With a ban imminent, right now TikTok is one of the hottest apps on the app stores, No. 4 on iOS and No. 3 on Google Play.As of Sunday, the Trump Administration says it will be illegal for Apple or Google to distribute new copies of the app, which counts 100 million users in the United States, is owned by China’s ByteDance, even as negotiations with Oracle to take over U.S. operations continue.So what to do if you enjoy making short, fun videos of yourself singing songs and dancing?Consider these TikTok alternatives:TrillerThis app offers much of the same short, trendy video bursts as TikTok without being owned by a Chinese company. Los Angeles-based Triller has reached out to popular creators to move their wares to the app, including Charli D’Amelio and Josh Richards. (Rapper Snoop Dog is an investor.) Triller says it has 120 million downloads. Ban TikTok? Move to Triller? Can influencers really get people to switch apps?Instagram ReelsThis is a feature within the Instagram app that let you record 15 second clips, adjust the audio speed (fast or slow) add music and let out your inner silliness. Videos get shared on Instagram, which is far and away the most popular photo sharing network. The tools “offers anyone the chance to become a creator on Instagram and reach new audiences on a global stage,” says Instagram, which is owned by Facebook.ByteThis is the reincarnation of the old Vine app, which Twitter owned then shut down, where people could get really silly for six seconds in funny video clips. Byte lets you shoot or upload and then share 16si-second videos. On TikTok, the the maximum time allotted is one-minute videos. New York-based Dubsmash, which first launched in 2014, has remained to its core –offering folks a platform to lip sync and add filters and effects to each video. From there, videos are shared off the platform, on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. YouTube ShortsThe Google-owned network announced this week its own TikTik clone called Shorts, letting creators make funny, short 15-second videos on their phone. However, Shorts is in beta testing, only in India, where TikTok is also banned.
