School of Marketing readies debut event to engage young people nationwide

[ad_1]

The School of Marketing is to host its first event in a bid to inspire young people aged 16 to 20 to consider a career in marketing.

The free-to-attend half-day event, which is being supported by Marketing Week, is aimed at giving young people a real feel and flavour for the marketing industry. The event takes place at Saatchi & Saatchi’s head office on 15 July from 9am to 1pm, and will feature a range of speakers, workshops and a chance to network with industry leaders.

The School of Marketing’s mission is to open-up access to marketing for young people from diverse backgrounds, teaching them about the changes taking place in the industry and the many different career routes they could explore.

The event is being hosted in collaboration with The Marketing Meetup, a networking series established by Joe Glover, one of the 50 founding members of the School of Marketing. The 50 marketers, aged 30 and under, are advocating to change the perception of marketing among young people across the UK.

Marketing Week first highlighted the falling esteem of marketing as a career choice for young people in March 2018, when exclusive research carried out in collaboration with student affinity network Unidays revealed just 3% of students aged 18 to 24 consider marketing a good career option.

The School of Marketing now hopes to redress the balance by opening up the marketing industry to diverse young people through education initiatives backed by top marketers from the likes of Direct Line Group, Microsoft, Santander, IBM and Google.

The School of Marketing half-day event will take place on 15 July from 9am to 1pm at Saatchi & Saatchi, 40 Chancery Lane, London, WC2A 1JA. Interested applicants can visit https://www.schoolofmarketing.co/ to fill in the form. Entrants will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.
