Walmart reveals the toys kids will want most this holiday season

[ad_1]

It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas?

The holiday season is a few months away, but Walmart has put out its annual list of the toys kids say they want the most.

The 48 dolls, gizmos and games that might spark the loudest squeals when discovered under the tree include interactive items like a Build-A-Bear Workshop Stuffing Station Value Box and Xbox One S Forza game. The Barbie Dreamplane, Peppa Pig’s Magical Parade and hoverboards also made the cut.

“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for parents to find the perfect toys for their children,” Anne Marie Kehoe, Walmart’s vice president of toys said in a statement. “And that’s especially true during the holidays.”

In the $27-billion toy industry, Walmart ranks as one of the biggest sellers. Rival Toys R Us, which shuttered its last locations last June is going to be back on the scene this holiday season, but it won’t be the dominant retailer it once was. Tru Kids Brands, the parent company that now owns the Toys R Us brand, will open two stores in Houston and Paramus, New Jersey, before the end of this year.

The toy industry has been in transition as retailers try to keep up with customer tastes that have shifted away from dolls and action figures to gadgets and digital games in recent years. And toys may be more costly if a threatened 15% tariff on some China-made goods goes into effect in December.
