I recently found my dream apartment. It’s back in my favorite city—Boston, not L.A. or New York City, sorry not sorry—and it’s massive and inexplicably hundreds of dollars below rental value, given the market. When I got offered the place, I almost pinched myself, since it seemed too good to be true.
The only problem? I don’t have a damn thing to fill it up with.

Okay sure, I’ve got all the basics: a bed, a desk, an old brown leather sofa and matching love seat, and more books than I know what to really do with (such is the life of a writer and former liberal arts major). But there’s more to making a home than just the essentials. I need stuff that adds character and a little pop of color.
That’s how I discovered this sale happening at Urban Outfitters right now. For a limited time, you can get up to 40% off select furniture, bedding, prints, and more, which is awesome. Sales like this don’t happen often at UO, especially on just home decor and furnishings, but it’s perfect if you’re like me and desperately in need of new decor for around your home.
When I shopped the sale yesterday, I was torn between three duvets: this velvet beauty on sale for $40 off (which a friend of mine referred to as “70’s, but like in a good way”); this tufted dot duvet, which is simple, understated, and on sale for $10 off; and last but not least, the dark horse—this rust-colored duvet emblazoned with subtle yet stylish geometric designs, which is on sale for $15 off and was the cheapest option in the whole bunch.

After some interior design soul-searching, I ultimately nixed the velvet and tufted dot options and settled on the dark horse, because burnt orange is one of my favorite colors to decorate with. Then I splurged and picked up a few other fun additions for around the house too, including the Sofia Printed Rug (25% off right now) and this Sloth Hanging Planter ($14), which might just be the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.
Chances are I’ll be hitting up the sale again after work today, since there are still tons of discounted products to choose from, like this top-rated Specimen Reference Flag Tapestry ($18), these fuzzy throw blankets ($49), and the Tarot Tapestry ($39), which reviewers say is big enough to cover an entire wall. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to indulge and furnish your home with all kinds of cute new stuff, this sale is definitely it.
