President Trump announces dinner plans with Apple CEO

[ad_1]

President Donald Trump announced he was having dinner with Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday.

“Having dinner tonight with Tim Cook of Apple. They will be spending vast sums of money in the U.S. Great!” tweeted Trump, who is on a working vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

In March, Cook attended a meeting at the White House and Trump called him “Tim Apple.” Hashtag #TimApple was trending shortly after Trump’s tweet Friday, with some replying to ask Trump if he meant Tim Apple.

Days after the March meeting, Trump said he didn’t make a mistake but called him “Tim Apple” as a time-saving measure.

Trump saves Christmas?: Tariffs on some Chinese goods delayed until December

This week, the Trump administration announced that tariffs on iPhone, Apple computers and other items were delayed until December.

“We’re doing this for Christmas season, just in case some of the tariffs would have an impact on U.S. customers,” Trump said Tuesday. “So far they’ve had virtually none.”

Tariffs are still set to go into effect Sept. 1 for Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod and other items on a 121-page list.

Last month, Trump said he would not grant a waiver or relief on tariffs assessed to Apple for parts on its Mac Pro computers.

Apple announced this week that the company “is responsible for creating and supporting 2.4 million US jobs across all 50 states, four times the number of American jobs attributable to the company eight years ago.”

Apple also said it spent $60 billion with 9,000 American component suppliers and companies in 2018, supporting more than 450,000 jobs
