HughesNet Challenges Starlink with Faster and Cheaper Satellite Internet
The era of Elon Musk’s monopoly has ended in the satellite internet realm as the new player, HughesNet, enters the stage with offerings that not only compete but outperform Starlink. They have now introduced plans offering customers connections with speeds of 100 Mbps, proving to be faster and more affordable than the industry leader.
HughesNet has become the latest satellite internet operator, launching the Elite plan for $90 per month and the Fusion plan for $110 per month. Both plans provide an incoming connection speed of up to 100 Mbps and an outgoing speed of up to 5 Mbps. While HughesNet’s coverage may not be as extensive as Starlink’s, the new operator aims to take the lead with competitive pricing and high-quality service.
It’s also noteworthy that HughesNet’s satellite, Jupiter 3, is positioned in a high geostationary orbit and offers a bandwidth of 500 Gbps, surpassing the capabilities of Starlink. With this new challenge, the era of monopoly might be coming to an end, ushering in an era of accessible and efficient satellite internet for all.
